Everyone is welcome to enjoy this fabulous evening celebrating the life of Ryan alongside the game of rugby.
For the last 16 years, the evening has provided some absolutely brilliant matches between many age groups, with a fantastic crowd cheering them on. The rendition of ‘Sweet Caroline’ is a highlight!
Many schools from around the country have taken on the Clifton College 1st XV over the years – everyone of them bringing talent, energy, support and enthusiasm for the event. This year will be no different as we welcome Taunton School U14, U15 , U16 and the 1st XV for the first time. Michelle Bresnahan, Ryan’s Mum is delivering assembly at both schools to share Ryan’s story and the meaning behind the event.
The matches will commence at 5.30pm, with the curtain raiser from Clifton’s Prep School v Dean Close. There’s a modest entrance fee of £5 for adults – please bring some cash if possible to reduce the queues for the car park. There’s a BBQ and other refreshments too.
The event would not happen without a lot of work and commitment behind the scenes. Huge thanks to Clifton College, Clifton Rugby Club, Andy & Diana Sayner, Umpires and the many helpers on the night. We are so so grateful that this fixture remains strong and continues to be one of the ‘best days in school!’
There will be a huge gap this year without our dearest Matt Salter, who sadly passed away earlier this year. Matt was the driving force behind this event for the last 10 years and it will never be the same without him. We truly appreciate the support from Shay Sainsbury and Danny Grewcock for flying the flag this year and making it as special as always. The boys will play with their hearts and souls as always.
