Charlotte Bresnahan, Ryan’s sister, set off on the 5th of September 24 to complete the entire South West Coast Path (SWCP) in just 30 days. That’s a total of 630 miles at approximately 21 miles a day, with an equivalent elevation to scaling Mt. Everest FOUR TIMES (yikes!).
This monumental effort, named ‘Steps of Tribute, honoured Ryan’s memory, who tragically lost his life to Meningitis in 2010. In what would have been his 30th year, Charlotte dedicated each step to his remarkable spirit while raising funds for A Life for a Cure, which has already raised over £600,000 to combat this devastating disease. The challenge ended on 5th October, tying in with World Meningitis Day.
Charlotte has commented on raising the massive fundraising total of £17,000:
With the last of the blisters healed up and mince pies regulating any lost weight, it almost feels like this never happened. But in amongst the craziness of the end of the year, I’m trying to take some time to reflect and remind myself of all the small moments that made it so amazing. Not least, going through all of the amazing comments from everyone that donated!
Thank you to everyone that helped me smash through my target, my generous sponsors @theradishagency @cliftoncollegeuk @brewin_dolphin and to all those that made this event a truly special tribute to Ryan on his 30th birthday.
To walk so many steps in his honour, was an absolute privilege
This really was a magnificent challenge and achievement in so many ways. Congratulations Charlotte and thank you for all your efforts to raise funds for your brother’s charity and awareness as you shared your story with those you met along the 630 miles.

The funds raised will be used to raise awareness of this brutal disease. Charlotte’s page is still open if you feel you would like to support this amazing challenge:
